What are the requirements for leaving Australia during the COVID19 Pandemic?
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, Australia has instituted a number of public health measures designed to protect the Australian community and ensure the viability of Australia’s response to the COVID19 situation.
As an Australian Citizen, in order to leave Australia, you must apply for a travel exemption which can only be granted under the following circumstances:
- your travel is as part of the response to the COVID-19 outbreak, including the provision of aid
- your travel is for your business/employer
- you are travelling to receive urgent medical treatment that is not available in Australia
- you are travelling outside Australia for a compelling reason for three months or longer
- you are travelling on compassionate or humanitarian grounds
- your travel is in the national interest.
Temporary Visa holders have been encouraged by the Australian government to leave Australia as long as the local laws of their home country permit this. Reentry into Australia is not likely to be approved if you have departed and want to come back.
We offer services to assist with travel to other countries from Australia by Australian citizens and permanent residents. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require assistance with an application to be able to leave Australia.
